Grade 6, 7, 8 MBCI Alumni Scholarship of $100 each:

Given to students who affirm the Christian values of the school, has demonstrated a positive attitude toward school and peers, shown an excellent academic effort and positive work habits.

Academic effort, commitment to spiritual values of MBCI, co-curricular participation and some display of positive leadership and supportive attitude toward others in class/school. Recommendation from Middle School teachers in core subject areas. Biblical Studies teachers recommendation significant.

Grade 7 Geoff Champion Memorial Science Scholarship:

A $500 scholarship going to a grade 7 student returning to MBCI for grade 8 who excels in science and demonstrates a commitment to Christian values.

Grade 6, 7 and 8 Samuel T. Geddert Memorial Award of $500 each:

This award of $500 is offered by the family and friends of Samuel Geddert to up to 3 returning middle school students who have achieved success in overcoming significant emotional, physical or academic hurdles in their program of studies and/or extra curricular activities at MBCI.

Grade 8 Citizenship Awards:

  • The student must have shown positive leadership qualities. This can be shown in different ways. The staff and students should view the student as a positive leader. This leadership could be visible or invisible.
  • In all of their involvements in school life, the student must have exemplified the ideals of Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute.
  • The student should have participated in at least one other area of school life in a significant way.
  • Candidates for citizenship should have honors or near honors standing.

Criteria for Grade 9 student going into Grade 10 at MBCI next year:

Nominations from Grade 9 teacher in core subject areas. Biblical Studies teachers recommendations significant, especially in regard to involvement in voluntary service.

This scholarship is given to a student who has demonstrated giftedness, a love for music, has committed to continuing to develop their gifts and has an attitude of service as they use their musical gifts to glorify God and serve the church.

This scholarship is given to a student going into Grade 11 or Grade 12 who has demonstrated excellence in Music and Athletics. This person should also follow the values of MBCI.

A Grade 11 "B" student, good average grades who has worked hard, believes in Christian principles, and will continue at MBCI for Grade 12

Criteria: 2 Sciences, second Language; attitude and care for others important as well.

Grade 11 Class of ’57 Drama Scholarship for $500:

This scholarship is awarded to a Grade 11 student who is returning to MBCI for Grade 12. Recommended by the Drama Teacher.

Grade 11 Class of ’59 Sig Schroeder Memorial Bursary for $200:

This award is for a Grade 11 student who is returning to MBCI for Grade 12. Academic superiority not required but a minimum overall Grade 11 average of 70% (including Bible course). Should display a positive Christian character and attitude of care for others. Financial need as determined by school.

This award is given to a student who exemplifies service and compassion to others. Academic achievement is not a criteria in this award. Please nominate a student from your grade who reaches out to a large group of people, not just to friends and classmates.

Granted to students attending either Columbia Bible College or Bethany College, or the Outtatown Program. Students must have shown academic excellence in Biblical Studies in Grade 12, a strong spiritual commitment and have followed the ideals of MBCI. Recommendation of Biblical Studies teacher(s) required.
