Welcome to my web page! Here you will find information regarding the courses that I teach. All of the information presented in this page has been discussed in class. Should you have to miss a class it is a good idea to check the web page in case I have posted something important about an assignment, test or project. I hope that this year provides you with a wonderful opportunity to learn, should you have any questions feel free to set up a time to meet with me after school or you can contact me via email or phone at any time! Good luck and enjoy your year!

A little about me:

In 2003 I began my Bachelor of Science at the University of Manitoba. I began my degree taking courses in all of the Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Statistics, Astronomy, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Ecology, Genetics... and the list goes on). After two years of Science I realized that I really, REALLY LOVED biology. I decided to specialize in biology and focus my degree in Zoology and Botany. Throughout my Science degree I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet some very wonderful professors who ‘adopted’ me into their ‘world’ of Boreal Ecology.

The next two years of my degree I spent focusing on the northern ethno-ecology of Manitoba which took me up to Churchill Manitoba. There I spent time doing research in Wapusk National Park (which was pretty cool for an undergrad)! Each night I camped out under the Aurora Borealis and every day I saw some form of amazing wildlife (caribou, polar bears and beluga whales)!

By the end of my Science degree I had received an offer to do my Masters in Science but I quickly turned it down. I had known right from the start of my science degree that I wanted to be a teacher. I had had some pretty fantastic teachers at MBCI and knew how they had made a difference in my high school life. I knew I wanted to make that same impact in students’ lives... but I just didn’t quite know what I wanted to teach...

Once I started to take my biology courses though, something just clicked! All of a sudden the concepts made sense and it was NOT because it was easy... it was because what I was learning related to every aspect of life! Now I’m teaching Biology and Science and hopefully I can pass on some of that passion for the life sciences to my students.
