Literacy and inquiry are areas of emphasis here at MBCI. In my role as teacher librarian I work to develop programs of instruction in these areas.

When students are involved in research I work in collaboration with classroom teachers to build inquiry skills such as finding and assessing information sources, note-taking strategies and presentation skills. My goal is to equip students with a solid understanding of all aspects of the research cycle.

I am responsible for collection development of both print and online information resources for the MBCI library. Our library has a strong non-fiction print collection as well as excellent online databases such as the EbscoHost Periodical Database and WorldBookOnline. We also maintain a strong print reference section. Our fiction collection caters to both the needs of English department reading programs and the casual reader.
