Welcome to Foods and Nutriton!  In this class we will prepare a variety of food dishes.  Students will learn about the importance of healthy eating and the benefits that it produces in our daily lives.  One reason I really enjoy teaching this course, is that it is applicable to all students.  No matter what career path a student may choose, they will need to know how to choose and prepare healthy food for themselves and their families.

We will be using Canada's Food Guide as our primary text for the course.  Students will learn how to read it and follow it and apply it to their daily lives.

All sections of grades 8 and 9 will have an assignment due on June 1st, where they are asked to cook/bake something at home and fill out their blue sheets.  It is called the "Home Cooking" assignment.  They are required to attach the recipe for what they are making and get a parent to sign saying it was done.

Upcoming quizzes:

Grade 9:  Section A:  April 16th, Section B: April 19th, Section C: April 18th.  This will be an open book quiz on Calories and Homemade vs. bought foods.

Grade 8: Sections A and C:  April 18th, Sections B and D:  April 19th.
