Post-Secondary & Career

Many of our students go on to pursue post-secondary education and we are here to help you discover what options are available to you. Make an appointment with the guidance counselor to discuss post-secondary options and what it will take to get you there.

Grade 9 students go through a program called Career Cruising. Students are matched with their interests and skills to possible career vocations they should look at for future considerations. The program gives them knowledge on the suitability, working conditions, educational requirements and sample career paths. Students are encouraged to try the program with a parent/guardian at home to review their results.

In grade 11 students go through Career Cruising again. The class is taken to the Career Symposium at the Convention Center. During the year students are encouraged to attend visits by the colleges and universities that come to the school. Various trips to colleges and universities are also scheduled during the year. Each student in grade 11 meets with a guidance counsellor and together they review their results from Career Cruising. They are also given advice on resumes and job search tools on the Career Cruising website.
